Speechie Library Talks 2020

This is the Speechie Library Talks 2020 logo. It has the words Speechie Library Talks 2020 in white reversed out of an aqua colour circle background.Speech Pathology Australia is excited to be hosting the inaugural Speechie Library Talks campaign that will highlight the role of speech pathologists in children’s language and literacy development.

Speechie Library Talks will facilitate connection between speech pathologists and their local public or school library, in a series of events to be held in November 2020 to coincide with the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year award celebrations.

By connecting speech pathologists with their local public or school library, and the broader community, the campaign aims to raise awareness about:

  • the role speech pathologists play in developing children’s language and literacy;
  • the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards; and
  • how library resources can play a part in building language and literacy.

Speech Pathology Australia is collaborating in the campaign with the Australian Library Information Association.

Parents, carers and others interested in children’s language and literacy development are invited to attend a talk (and book reading) at their local library to find out more about how they can help their child.

Host a Speechie Library Talk

If you would like to host a speech pathologist at your library in November email the Association's Publication Manager.

Attend a Speechie Library Talk

Throughout November 2020 and into 2021, Speech Pathology Australia members will be connecting with their local communities and promoting children’s language and literacy development, as part of the Association’s 2020 Speechie Library Talks campaign.

More than 60 events will take place across the country. Most events will be face-to-face, while a small number will be digital events.

Each session will go for about an hour and provide information about how speech pathologists help with language and literacy development. Each session will also include a book reading of one of the Association’s Book of the Year winning books, and provide parents and carers with tips and information about how they can help with their children’s language and literacy development.

Everyone is invited to join in one of the Speechie Library Talks sessions. Below is a listing of all the upcoming talks. Please check with the library listing to confirm final details.
