This document Federal Government Scope of Practice Review: May 2024, Response 1 of 2, addresses The Federal Department of Health and Ageing is undertaking the "Unleashing the Potential of our Health Workforce – Scope of Practice Review" to examine the barriers and incentives for health practitioners in primary care to work to their full scope of practice. Speech Pathology Australia has engaged with the consultation process since the first phase in late 2023. This third phase has seen Speech Pathology Australia provide 2 responses. The first response addresses consultation questions posed by the review team, while the second calls for an independent review to consider legislative and regulatory solutions for enabling self-regulating professions to fully utilise their scope of practice.
