Making a complaint

A member of the public or a member of the Association can make a complaint about a member of Speech Pathology Australia (the Association) if they believe there has been a breach of the Association's Code of Ethics.

Complaints are received by the Manager, Ethics and Professional Issues in the Association's National Office. If you have a query regarding the Association's Code of Ethics, want to speak with someone regarding an issue related to the Code of Ethics, or you want to lodge a complaint, contact the Association's Manager, Ethics and Professional Issues and you will be contacted by telephone with an explanation of the complaints process in detail.

Complaints about non-members will be directed to contact the relevant state government service (e.g., Health Services Commissioner).

Ethics Board

In 2000, the Association's Ethics Board was established to promote ethical practice, manage and, when necessary, to enforce the Code. Members of the public or members of the profession are encouraged to make a complaint if they believe there has been a breach of the Association’s Code of Ethics.

National Code of Conduct

The National Code of Conduct (the Code) is a minimum set of standards of conduct for all health service providers who are not regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Speech pathologists are included in this group of health professionals.
