An enhanced attendee experience: What's new at 2024 Conference

We are thrilled to share some exciting changes that we believe will significantly enhance your experience at the upcoming Speech Pathology Australia 2024 Conference. Member feedback and our commitment to providing a platform for growth, connection, and inclusivity has driven these changes, with the aim of ensuring a more enriching and accessible conference for all attendees.

Welcome Reception now a Monday night extravaganza

The welcome reception has been moved from Sunday night to Monday night, to help attendees save on accommodation costs and improve networking opportunities with fellow attendees and exhibitors.

Find your community at Tuesday night networking

The Conference Dinner has changed from a sit-down dinner to a semi-facilitated networking event located at the venue. The event is a great opportunity to foster new connections across the speech pathology community.

Conference Program streamlined for your convenience

The 2024 Conference Planning Committee have introduced 5-minute transition times between 15-minute presentations, enabling increased flexibility.

Audio recordings and presentation resources will be available for all registered attendees post-conference.

A knowledge hub will be established and located within the exhibition area, to serve as a designated space for digital poster presentations during concurrent sessions and product updates from our partners during breaks.

Revitalised AGM and awards celebration

In 2024 the AGM will move to the Monday plenary session following afternoon tea to enable easier access for attendees. The awards celebration has been separated from the AGM to a Tuesday plenary afternoon session. This session will feature a conversation style discussion with award winners and early career interviews with later-stage careers.

Registration will be simpler

This year there will be only three price points: member, non-member, and student. This will help to simplify the registration process.

Creating a welcoming space for all

Based on specific member feedback we have established a few new features to aid accessibility to conference.

These include:

  • presenters have been encouraged to consider visual clarity

  • different spaces will be provided in the venue to minimise travel between sessions

  • a dedicated recharge/quiet room will be provided

  • social function formats will be modified to reduced sensory overload.

Personalised name badges and networking formats

Attendees will be invited to provide preferred pronouns on conference name badges and our updated social function formats will allow for more inclusive and informal networking.

We are confident that these changes will elevate your conference experience, providing more opportunities to connect, learn, and grow.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Speech Pathology Australia 2024 Conference!
